Last week, David came down with a nasty cold. Since I have a bunch of work travel around the corner, I decided to play it safe and moved into our guest bedroom until he felt better.
We did our best to keep those pesky germs at bay! While David drank lots of brothy soup, rested and let his body heal, I took over double duty for the week — cooking, cleaning, and handling as much of the work as I could. All I wanted was for him to rest and recover.
After nearly 23 years together, we’ve naturally fallen into our own rhythm with household tasks. David handles trash day, while I’m the bed-making specialist. He sorts/starts the laundry, and I swoop in later to fold it. None of it has to be discussed — it’s just a beautiful, effortless dance we’ve developed over time.
With intention, I stepped in to the flow of all those household duties. I love to cook, and doting on David is one of my favorite things. But what truly caught me off guard was realizing just how much I appreciate everything he does for our business.
During one of my online classes, I started feeling a bit overwhelmed. Now, if you’ve ever attended a lesson with me, it might seem like I’ve got everything under control, right? Well, truth be told, that’s because David has it all under control behind the scenes, so I can just focus on giving intuitive readings and teaching about spiritual topics that move me.
When class started, I felt confident. I had my curriculum ready, and I was prepared to welcome everyone. But pretty soon, names started popping up in the waiting room, questions flooded the chat, and when it was time for Q&A, I was fumbling to properly spotlight and unmute people. It felt like I was learning to drive all over again, and my instructor had called in sick that day.
And let’s talk about breakout rooms, which are a great way for participants to pair off into private meetings so they can practice and share with each other. I’ve been using Zoom for years, but do I know how to create breakout rooms? Absolutely not. I could feel the sweat forming on my brow as I clumsily figured it out on the fly!
This whole experience made me realize just how much light and support David brings to our partnership. I may be the one on camera, but he’s the magic working behind the scenes — like a wizard pulling all the strings to make sure everything runs smoothly.
I’m beyond lucky to have David by my side, both personally and professionally. And for those of you who may have been stuck in a breakout room or the waiting room last week — thank you for your patience.
I’m happy to report that David is feeling much better now, back to his usual self, and sprinkling his fairy dust everywhere he goes. But last week served as a great reminder to pause and observe the contributions of those who support us — family, friends, community.
Let this be a reminder to acknowledge their magic and show your appreciation. A moment of gratitude can go such a long way.
Much Love,
Dougall
P.S. Speaking of traveling for work, I’m heading to Charleston to speak at Mystical Connections with an incredible group of friends and colleagues. It’s all happening online, and I’d love for you to join us on October 5th for a day of spiritual discovery and transformation. >>>>Reserve your free spot here!<<<<

Aloha from Hawaii! Talking about gratitude, mahalo for this blog and for the Journey to Japan. I just returned and you must have seen the photos with Ken Honda-san, Yukari and Papa-san. Yukaari and Papa-san took time to show us around and we had nice meals and conversations together. I feel our friendship deepened and I am so grateful to experience their friendship, I want to return to have more magical experiences. Have a wonderful day! O ka maluhia no me oe (Peace be with you), Olelo pa’a
Thank you for this Dougall. As someone who is beginning to tread the waters of online programs I have watched how David so expertly supports you and keeps things running smoothly. It’s beautiful actually. I have been blessed with a wonderful support person for my programming as well. I’ve told several people the he’s like an angel that showed up at the perfect time. I’m so grateful for him!
Thanks for sharing Kathy, it’s wonderful to hear that you’ve got good support in place. 💜
I’m happy to hear that David is feeling much better! Having had the privilege of meeting both of you and having some of our conversations in Japanese just for the fun of it I truly sensed a strong connection, and more importantly, deep respect between the two of you. May you continue to enjoy many, many years of good health and happiness together!
Thank you so much Vivian, we’re grateful for you! 💞
You are a great guy, and so is your husband!!! Congratulations!! I love your letters!!

Thanks for the kind words Fernando! 😊
So true Dougall. Last few days I contemplated how grand to have a partner who loved their focus on the electronic AI portion. Well – I find it marvelous to witness pairs who function to produce together a product. You give promise and hope for doable partnership. Granted -0- life has its turns we navigate – but having a love and friend who likes doing the part not in our zone – wowie. Plain great!! Glad David’s up and moving again with life.
Beautifully said Sue! Thanks for sharing, sending you lots of love and positive energy.🧡
